Descending towards Oslo with the sun behind us, A320 CS-TMW's shadow is cast on the layer of altostratus below. The optical phenomenon known as "The Glory of the Pilot" consists of multiple coloured rings centered on the observer and is produced by light backscattered towards its source by a cloud of small, uniformly-sized water droplets.
"pics from the office" is a selection of photos taken from the Airbus A320, A330 and A340 operational environment. This blog is focused on Aviation rather than on the technical aspects of photography. Feel free to comment. Thanks for your visit!

Thrust Levers
In the Airbus there are no throttles; instead there are thrust levers. When the autothrust is OFF, the thrust lever position directly controls engine thrust however, with autothrust engaged the thrust levers remain in a predetermined detent while the engine thrust is allowed to vary within a given range. Unlike Boeing's autothrottle, Airbus' autothrust does not automatically move the thrust levers to reflect engine thrust. Hence the name autothrust and not autothrottle. Lights on in the Office
Every now and again a push button integral light decides not to illuminate when it is supposed to. In order to troubleshoot, there is an annunciator light test switch that is used to turn on all cockpit annunciator lights. This shot shows the final product.
