A320 CS-TNK being de-iced then anti-iced by a two step procedure in Copenhagen prior to our departure towards Lisbon. De-icing is required to remove ice and snow from the aircraft whereas anti-icing protects the aircraft for a given timeframe called holdover time. This is an expensive and time consuming procedure but wrongly deciding not to do it can be extraordinarily more expensive.
