In the descent towards Lisbon's runway 35 arriving from Rome, Air Traffic Control asked us to maintain "high speed" as we were number one for the approach. In this phase of the flight it is possible to gain a few (2 or 3) minutes without burning extra fuel by speeding up. Preferably this should be done by managing the flight to keep the engines at idle thrust. A320 CS-TMW chasing the sunset at 300 KIAS (Knots Indicated Air Speed).
