The preflight inspection is an important part of flight preparation. It consists of visually checking the aircraft to ensure that all is as it should be. Here I was, doing just that to A320 CS-TQD at Zagreb before the flight to Lisbon. The yellow and black assembly connected to the airplane by a cable is called a Ground Power Unit (GPU). Its purpose is to provide electricity to parked airplanes. "pics from the office" is a selection of photos taken from the Airbus A320, A330 and A340 operational environment. This blog is focused on Aviation rather than on the technical aspects of photography. Feel free to comment. Thanks for your visit!

When to switch to APU? Or need to use both GPU and APU? Thanks
ReplyDeleteFriend of mine told me about this blog and now I become one new follower! I'm fan of these topics, frequent flyer and home simulator pilot!
Hi Ricardo, sorry for taking long to reply. APU starting is delayed because it burns fuel and makes noise. Once is is started, shortly before departure, the GPU is disconnected and the APU powers the aircraft electrical network. Thanks for your comment! Enjoy the blog.
