Here we were in A340-300 CS-TOA at FL350 flying from Maputo (FQMA) to Lisbon (LPPT). The radar image on the navigation display shows us flying through an opening among the African CB's. Notice that our routing is almost perpendicular to the present heading. This is what severe weather enthusiasts might call "the real thing"...
Incrível, mas verdade
ReplyDeleteuowhhhh...
ReplyDeleteFL350... strong winds???
Winds @ 240/8kt it looks like on the screen.
ReplyDeleteWhy are you flying perpendicular? To avoid the weather i guess, but did you fly around all that? How long extra flying did you do because of this?
E quando as "frentes" na ICZ não vos dão uma rota de saída?... São longos minutos de tudo aos saltos...
ReplyDeleteMy Meteorology teacher told us over and over... "Remember this: CB kills! Stay away from it".
ReplyDeleteEven that dark spot on the Weather Radar's no assurance that everything's "fine and dandy" over that area...
Scaaaary!
